January – May 2019 BL Games news in a nutshell

I meant to do this for a long time, and hope to write a BL game roundup once a month, or maybe once every two months that cover news for major projects.

— January News —

Chasing the Stars, Spanish creator Ertal Games’ steampunk-themed BL game finally released. You can grab a copy on itch.io or Steam for $10 USD.


Later that month, American creator Bob Conway released the complete version of Yearning: A Gay Story. The game is free but you can order physical and digital goods if you want to support the creator. You can also grab a free nudity patch in his website.


— February News —

At the end of February, British industry veteran Hanako Games gathered £25,644 (around $33,723 USD) for their upcoming Magical Diary: Wolf Hall, a VN/RPG hybrid in which you play as a customizable male character and get to date male or female mages.


— March News —

On March 14, Ertal Games gathered 4,946 euros ($5,543 USD) during the Kickstarter campaign for My Burning Heart, a self-indulgent Arabian Nights-themed BL game. The demo is available in English, French, Spanish and German. If we’re lucky, the complete game may come out this year.


American publisher JAST BLUE announced on the 20th of March the future official English version of Togainu no Chi, Nitro+CHiRAL’s first BL game. No exact release date has been set, but TnC will apparently come out before Lamento and DRAMAtical Murder.


— April News —

Arab-American creator Perfect Garbage came out of nowhere, blasted the shit out of Yuri/BL cyberpunk VN Love Shore on Twitter and gathered a whopping $62,466 on Kickstarter in the span of 30 days. The complete game is set to be released in Q3 2021.


French creator Mésange Arts released the demo of their upcoming fantasy BL game Valentyne Stories Necromancy. They plan to launch a KS campaign in May, or at least in the near future. The demo is quite long and available in French and English.


This year’s NaNoReNo game jam brought us 4 short BL games, some of which are still works in progress:

— May News —

The Kickstarter campaign for The Divine Speaker, a BL game from new Australian creator Two and a Half Studios is still ongoing and is currently 77% funded. The game’s demo feature full voice acting and is available in English, German, French, Spanish and Japanese.

Did I mention I was translating this game in French and coding in some cool special effects too? Well, now you know.
